ALERT: During today’s Committee of the Whole meeting, Commissioners from the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission recommended the election of Loren Hitchcock as the agency’s new director.
Commission Chairman Craig Campbell said there were four great candidates for the director’s position. “After the interviews this week, it became clear that Interim Director Loren Hitchcock is the ideal candidate to take the reins of this agency and move it forward,” Campbell said. “It is our pleasure to nominate Loren as director,” he added.
“He’s a good fit for this organization. Hitchcock’s experience with the agency and his vision for the future will serve the agency well,” Campbell said.
The Committee also approved a motion by Vice-Chairman George Dunklin to elect the next director by acclamation at Thursday’s commission meeting.
Final interviews for the position took place Jan. 16-18 at the Winthrop Rockefeller Institute on Petit Jean Mountain.
Hitchcock will replace Scott Henderson who stepped down Sept. 1, 2010, to take another position within the agency.
